Vibrational Healing Basics: Color & Sound

One of the primary healing modalities used in ancient Egypt and Greece was vibrational healing. Vibrational healing uses energy in the form of color, sound, toning, tuning forks, musical instruments, intentional visualization, chanting, crystals, movement, aromatherapy and homeopathic essences. Vibrational healing is described as one of the 7 cures for disease in the Hermetic Holistic Principles of Medicine that we have discussed in an earlier post.

The use of vibration for healing stems from an underlying ancient belief described in oral tradition that has been passed on and taught in Ancient Mystery Schools over the course of thousands of years. It is believed that the physical body is animated and vitalized by an energy (called the ‘etheric body‘ or ‘vitalizing body‘) that is like the energetic but slightly larger ‘body double‘ that permeates and surrounds the physical body- extending out about 2 to 4 inches around the physical body. This energy enters the body through various spiritual or energy centers in the body (known in Eastern tradition as chakras) and then the vital life force or chi (qi) travels through the body along certain pathways (known in Traditional Chinese Medicine as energy meridians).

Each of the principal energy centers (chakras and the areas of the body linked to each one) in the body vibrate to a characteristic color, tone or musical note when in a state of wellness. When this vibration shifts out of balance, there is the creation of dissonance that may manifest as mental, emotional or physical disarray – or ‘dis-ease‘. Utilizing specific sounds, musical tones or colors (through intention, the appropriately colored garment, colored lights, crystals/gemstones) can assist with rebalancing the energy centers and restoring wellness.

We discuss the use of various vibrational healing techniques and give guided meditations using color in our first book Shift: 12 Keys to Shift Your Life . The chakra meditations from our book can be downloaded for immediate use at digstation.com . We also regularly teach beginner and advanced color and sound classes to help people learn how to use these ancient self-healing modalities.

Stay ‘tuned’ for more information on Color & Sound healing here in the future- it just might Shift Your Life! 🙂

  1. The use of metaphysical crystals is an excellent way to take healing upon oneself. Crystal healing uses specific crystals to bring about healing and positive changes in the mind and body. The idea behind crystal healing is that gemstones carry vibrational rates, which can change a the vibrational rates of a person’s aura and can affect their physical body in positive ways. There are hundreds of varieties of crystals for sale online that can be used to generate different healing effects.

    • Yes, we mention crystals in our post as one of the tools used for vibrational healing. The video we have in the post shows the use of crystal singing bowls for use in vibrational healing/re-balancing. Each bowl is made of specific crystals or gemstones and each bowl also was created to produce specific musical notes when played; so the healing is created by both the energy of the crystal and the musical note in this demonstration. We often recommend that a person carry around a specific crystal or gemstone for certain physical or emotional issues. 🙂
