Steve Nelson’s Astrological Timing for Success – October 2011

The Shift Doctors (Tracy Latz, M.D. & Marion Ross, Ph.D.) are thrilled once again to have our good friend and guest blogger Steve Nelson return to share his wisdom. Steve is an astrologer who follows a Jungian mythological tradition. He was raised by a part Cherokee shaman Aunt Maude who learned much of her lore from Molly Runningwolf, the mother of Amanita Sequoyah, the last Cherokee medicine man officially recognized by the Eastern Tribe. Steve’s Indian name is Steven Red Wolf, his lineage is of the wolf clan, one of the 7 tribal groups of the Cherokee. Steve follows many of the Cherokee traditions especially as these relate to celebrations, the use of ritual fire and star lore. For more information about Steve Nelson see www.GaiaAstrology.com

October 2011 begins with a fiery Grand Trine featuring a fun filled Sagittarius Moon in dynamic dance with energetic Leo Mars and revolutionary Aries Uranus. As in the beginning so in the end, this month begins and ends with celestial fireworks. Meanwhile there’s work to do to realize our dreams and the cosmic field is powering us on our way. October 1’s Grand Trine finds creative expression through a challenging and opportune square to expansive Jupiter the king of planets. Also in play this month is a long term (through March 2012!) trine between Jupiter and potent Pluto. This aspect is key to global renaissance as Pluto and his dwarf planet partner Eris / Persephone preside over the transformation of the King and the order of things. While Jupiter is retrograde running backwards in Taurus (until Dec 25), the false king shows his face and old order shadows come to light to be transformed. Energy set free from old world patterns breaking becomes a source of power for the new creation flowering through 2012.

While the Sun continues through Libra, the sign of the Egyptian goddess Maat, balance is being restored within and all that makes the heart heavy is let go so it becomes as light as the Feather of Maat. All deemed worthy by Libra’s Goddess of Truth becomes empowered during the 10 Holy Day / 9 Night celebration culminating Oct 8-9. By tradition, this 7th Moon period of the zodiacal year is when the world was created and is recreated again each year. During these 9 Nights (Navaratri) Kali is welcomed into homes to consume the old year’s discord. Energetic clearing and re-creation in spirit prepares way for the New Year 2012 to be. The Sun in Libra “Atohuna” Full Moon brings significant new friendships and romantic unions that will be of benefit to the world. All fortunes turn on the tide of this 7th Moon. Psychic shadows are broken freeing energy for new creation following the Scorpio New Moon Oct 26. There will be much to celebrate by the close of this magical month.

White Rabbit! Oct 1 – Magical New Beginnings

Say ‘White Rabbit’ first thing today for luck this month. Rabbit is magic, psychic alchemy and the Moon. #1 days are symbolized by the Magician card in Tarot, this is when the magician pulls another rabbit from his hat.

Going Out of the Signs Oct 1-9 – Out with the Old, Opening to the New

Whatever blocks flow comes before the Gate to be let go. It’s time to release body tensions that hold outmoded ways of thinking and feeling. Breathe deeply and move freely (dance!) to shed old ways and open to inspirations for the new time. Dark of Moon/New Moon, Oct 25-27 – Time to Go Within

The day before New Moon until Sunset a day after is ideal for inner work to seed the new cycle, outer activity is favored after the crescent appears. Here we can know what is and realize how to shape what can be.
