The Sun in Libra Full Moon Sept 27 – Oct 2 brings a vision of what’s to be. This is Atohuna, the Cherokee Friends Made Moon when two are joined together as one in the presence of Yowa. From this inner marriage and union of souls new creation flowers. As two agree it will be. This is Nuetiegwa, the Big Medicine Moon when women dance to help the world be reborn. This Sun in Libra Full Moon begins Sukkoth, the Season of Joy that is celebrated in the sukkah, a simple shelter open to the sky and spirit. Water sprinkled with myrtle to the four directions blesses the space within. It’s time to create sacred space and make all things new. (For m ore information on how to create sacred space in your home, see http://shiftyourlife.com/2011/creating-sacred-space-for-the-new-year/ ). Re-creation in spirit makes way for the New World to be. All fortunes turn on the tide of this 7th Moon. The Atohuna Full Moon tells us what, the Oct 27-31 Full Moon will show us how.

Strange things happen at the Full Moon when the lunar orb passes through the Earth’s magnetotail. Then, for 5 days (2 days before and 2 after the day of Full Moon), solar plasma flows strongly through the Earth-Moon connection and the Moon becomes so highly charged electrically that Moon dust floats above the lunar surface. This is the science, the metaphysical teaching is that solar prana and consciousness is drawn most strongly through the Earth – and through our bodies – when the Moon is Full.

October begins with an awesome flow of cosmic energies from auspicious double grand trines (double fun, double good luck) in air and water signs. Saturn just out of its shadow loop Oct 1 trines Neptune in Pisces anchoring  the vision of what we’re to be. By the next Full Moon plans are laid and in the works to realize our greatest dreams. Pluto conjunct in parallel with Mars and North Node in Scorpio transforms psychic shadow and eliminates illusions opening the way to enlightened awareness. As old patterns of belief transform energy is freed for new creation.

Grand trines are the most fortunate of cosmic signs and the sky is filled with them this month – including another double triangle at the Oct 15 New Moon. The big October surprise is a much stronger than expected up tick in the global and U.S. economy along with increasing consumer confidence and hope for the future of the world.

This month is blessed with strong focus and energy, which is good because there is a lot of work to do. While the Sun moves through Libra, the sign of the Egyptian goddess Maat, balance is restored within and all that makes the heart heavy is let go so we become light like the Feather of Maat.

The Oct 15 New Moon in Lupus the Wolf decan Libra begins a great transformation and release that will bring us into the New World. The transforming proceeds quickly as the Sun moves through Scorpio.  The mythic Ring War ends on Nov 3 or in the days just after according to Tolkien’s Chronology for this prophetic year. All the forces of the universe are working with us now yet we still have to do what is needed to bring our new creation forward. We’re awakening now to who we are and beginning to see what we’re to do in this new time. There will be much for us to celebrate by the close of this magical and fortunate month.

White Rabbit! Oct 1New Magic Afoot

Say ‘White Rabbit’ first today for luck throughout the month. The first day each month is the day of the Magician, the  #1 card in Tarot. The Magician pulls a rabbit from his hat and this is the Moon Hare standing high in the sky as the month begins.

Atohuna Full Moon, Oct 1-2 / Sukkoth, Oct 1-6Divine Union

The Harvest Moon brings people together in celebration. The Cherokee call this Atohuna “the Friends Made Moon” when eternal friendship is declared in the presence of Yowa. Sukkoth ‘the Jewish season of joy’ is celebrated in a suka, a simple shelter of greenery decorated with fruits of the harvest and with open roof to signify openness to the Divine.

This is the Wishing Moon, the best time to put wishes on the air. It is also called the Witches Moon, a time to bring to mind those who need healing.

Feeling invokes healing, the deeper we feel, the deeper we heal and the more Moon magic is invoked for the new cycle. Shadows before New Moon are transformed by deep breathing with attention to the light of the crown. See the wee waning crescent rising before the Sun.

Gate of Inspiration, Oct 12-13 (6:40 pm – 6:40 pm)Dance and Be Free

A Muse Gate opens every 40 days, 9 each year. (For more information on the Nine Gates of Inspiration see http://shiftyourlife.com/2010/the-nine-gates-of-inspiration-access-to-interdimensional-portals/ ) The witch queen Cerridwen stirs her caldron for a year and day to brew the “greal” of  Inspiration. Nine maidens alternate their breaths to keep the magic fire burning, each maiden is a Muse. Whatever is blocking energy flow comes before the Gate to be let go. This is a time to release body tensions that hold old ways of thinking and feeling. Breathe deeply and move freely (dance!) to shed the old and open to the special magic of this new time.

Dark of Moon/New Moon, Oct 14-16Going Within

The day before New Moon until Sunset a day after is ideal for inner work to release shadows of the past and seed the new cycle; outer activity is favored after the new lunar crescent appears. The New Moon (exact 8:03 am 10/15) is a cosmic spring that flows freely as we just slow down. Nostradamus calls this “the day of Diana, a time for silent rest.” New Moon is a psychic black hole like Alice’s rabbit hole. Many wonders await our following the Moon Hare within. Here we can know what is and how to shape what’s to be.

Crescent New Moon, Oct 16-19A Time to Sow

It’s time to bring forward what we wish to be realized. Farmers plant seeds when the crescent appears, seeds become fertile on every level, all new beginnings are favored now. Meditation opens doorways, wishes take wing, prayers bring blessings for this Moon and the Year to be.

Going Out of the Signs, Oct 18-26Out With the Old, Power On the New

The best time to break addictions or eliminate attachments is when the Moon wave moves down beyond vital organs from Sagittarius (thighs) through Pisces (feet). Now we can more easily let go outmoded patterns and eliminate toxins physical, emotional and psychic. It’s purging time again and this with Sun in Scorpio brings a big release before the great increase.

1st Quarter Moon, Oct 21-24 (11:32 pm 10/21)Time to Choose

This Moon is like a scythe cutting across the sky, it’s a time to cut free from the trappings of the past and affirm our purpose moving forward. Sacred to the Druids, this Moon phase is pivotal in the cycle of creation. Choices made now are likely the right ones. Breathing deeply through the light of the crown frees energy flow up and down to clear shadows and power dreams.

Tripuri Purnima / Phoenix Full Moon, Oct 27-31 Transformation

Hindus celebrate Shiva’s victory over the “city demons” Tripuri. Shiva is the god of dance, death and transformation (all things Scorpio). Lamps are lit to honor and welcome the Lord of the Dance. Scorpio is the Scorpion, Eagle and Phoenix. This Sun in Scorpio Full Moon is called the Phoenix Moon. Shadows come before the light, astral illusions transformed free energy to power our dreams. Each Full Moon brings revelation and opportunities for healing body, mind and soul. The Full Moon is a pitcher that pours out a magic elixir we raise our cups to receive. Cosmic energies flow for 3 days following Full Moon (exact 3:49 pm Oct 29). Revelations come in dreams, chance encounters and flashes of inspiration. Stay tuned!

Halloween / All Hallow’s Eve – Oct 31Gather with Friends and Celebrate!

The astral veil thins as the Celtic New Year begins, psyches are unfettered and fantasy reigns. Spectral phantasms are seen dancing around caldron and candle. With a stirring of shadow and primal nature, shades of the past are conjured and cleared opening way for what’s to be. As the veil of the astral world is lifted, masks are put on reflecting fears and heartfelt wishes. As the old year lets go faces let go revealing new inner beauty. Stroke your crystal ball and look within to see what your future will bring. Happy Halloween!
